Resources Library
About the Library:
Our ever expanding Resources Library stocks up to date health promotion resources designed to complement and support your work or project. Check below to see a sample of our latest resources. Large numbers of resources are available for the priority areas, but we also have information on many other topic areas, e.g. osteoporosis, women’s health and dental care.
Everything is available on loan, free of charge, for up to three weeks.
What We Stock:
Items available include books, teaching packs, videos, anatomical models, replica foods and audiovisual equipment including display boards, overhead projectors and screens, video and DVD players, a lap top computer and a data projector. The library holds statistical information, campaign details and materials and health education journals. Supplies of free leaflets and posters are also available.
How to Borrow Items:
If you wish to sign up to borrow resources, you can go to our contact page, and fill in the form. Alternatively, if you already know what you would like to hire, and you are on our records, email or telephone Steph on 707313 with your request. Visitors to the library are always welcome - we are open from 8.45 am to 5.00 pm most days. Please telephone us before you come to avoid disappointment and to ensure that someone will be available to deal with your enquiry.
Latest Resources:
We are always on the lookout for new resources for the Library, particularly in response to requests from our clients, so if you can think of anything you need for a teaching session or research for an assignment that might be useful for others as well, then please let us know. Our stock of PSHE resources continues to grow; it ranges from books and posters on exploring emotions for pre-school children, to drugs and alcohol teaching packs and models for teenagers. There is so much to see that it really is worth paying us a visit.
A new food model has already attracted a lot of interest, particularly at weight management sessions. Our 'How to gain 2kg in 4 weeks' model shows two glasses of soft drink and a chocolate bar next to a 2kg lump of simulated fat. This is the amount you would gain in 4 weeks if you consumed that amount of food and drink extra to your normal daily consumption. It demonstrates perfectly how small changes can have a big effect on your diet.
If you are looking for visual aids with impact to show the effects of alcohol consumption on the body, we have a ‘pickled liver’ in a jar, and a ‘brain’ in a glass of beer.
And don't forget that if you need resources for a health-related presentation or display we also hire out overhead projectors and screens, a video projector and laptop, and display boards in different sizes and colours. Our latest acquisition, a remote control mouse, is already proving very useful.
If you need inspiration and would like to come and look at our resources, then please ring Steph on 707313 for an appointment.
